#47: Would You Marry Someone You Didn’t Want To?

You wouldn’t marry someone you don’t love - so why live a life that isn’t yours? Discover the power of choosing your own path.

#47: Would You Marry Someone You Didn’t Want To?

Think about it: if someone asked you to marry a person you barely know, would you actually say yes? No spark, no connection, just pressure from family or society telling you it’s the “right thing to do.” Most of us would hesitate, right? Because deep down, we all know that choosing a life partner is too personal a decision to let someone else make for us.

So, here’s a thought: if you wouldn’t marry someone out of pressure, why live your life by someone else’s expectations?

We’re taught from a young age to care about what people think, about our jobs, hobbies, and even how we spend our free time. But at what point do we stop living for others and start choosing for ourselves?

The “Respectable” Profession Trap

Many people still hesitate to talk about what they truly love doing because it doesn’t fit the textbook definition of a “respectable profession.” Especially when it comes to things like poker or other skill-based games, the misunderstanding runs deep.

For some, it’s easier to say they work in “finance” or “entertainment” rather than admit they play or coach poker for a living. Not because they’re ashamed, but because they fear being judged or misunderstood. Society tends to confuse poker with gambling, ignoring the skill, discipline, and strategy it actually demands.

But let’s be honest, is following your passion really something to hide? Poker players train their minds in much the same way athletes train their bodies. They study data, read opponents, and make decisions that balance logic with risk, and that’s not luck.

Choice Is Everything

If you can stand firm on choosing who to marry or not marry, why can’t the same rule apply to what fuels your passion? Whether it’s poker, gaming, or content creation, being true to yourself matters far more than fitting into a mould someone else designed.

Choosing your path doesn’t make you rebellious; it makes you honest. When you stop hiding what you love, you start living freely. And that’s when real confidence shows up, not just in what you do, but in who you are.

Own What Makes You, YOU

So next time you hesitate to say what you really do, pause and remind yourself, there’s no shame in passion. There’s pride in skill. You wouldn’t tie your life to someone you don’t connect with; don’t tie your identity to someone else’s approval either.

Own your choices, whether that’s in marriage, career, or play. After all, it’s your story, and only you get to write it.
